The newest bed and breakfast in Banner Elk North Carolina, Banner Haven, and the largest, the Azalea Inn, have partnered under the management team of Greg and Amy Gardner. Together these two properties represent 16 rooms capable of sleeping more than 40 people.
Banner Haven B&B and Cabin Rentals opened its doors May 12, 2012. The innkeepers, Greg and Amy Gardner left the Charlotte, NC area to manage the new B&B. With many years of business owner experience, the Gardners have been extremely successful starting their lodging careers; several months have seen more than 80% occupancy and every month has exceeded projections. After less than six months, guests have already begun returning for repeat stays.
While Banner Haven is the smallest B&B in the area with only three rooms, its customer feedback, online ratings, and reviews are the best. From TripAdvisor and VRBO, to HomeAway and Yelp, every review posted has been 100% positive. The innkeepers have put customer service at the top of the priority list.
The Azalea Inn Bed and Breakfast has been a fixture in the community for more than 15 years and developed a very successful history. As the largest bed and breakfast in the Highcountry, the Azalea has long been a well known property.
Frank and Karen Wimbush opened the Azalea in 1998 and operated it very successfully until 2012, when their lives began following another track and they followed their hearts to Africa in pursuit of a life in mission work.
The Gardners approached Frank and Karen to operate the inn. They were welcomed with open arms and a new friendship was born, along with a new business opportunity for everyone.
Together the properties will provide more sleeping beds than any similar business in the Highcountry.
These two Banner Elk Bed and Breakfast properties will bring a new flavor, providing more than just a bed with breakfast; a unique breakfast option, on-site massages, whirlpool suites, hot tubs, a sauna, and much more.
The Azalea will begin offering guests the option of dining out for breakfast. Historically, B&Bs serve a limited menu at a specific time. Instead, these properties offer a five restaurant option. Five local restaurants will be serving breakfast for Banner Haven and the Azalea; Banner Elk Cafe, Fred and Larry’s Coffee, Dunn’s Deli, Sugar Mountain Cafe, and Blue Ridge Bistro.
Whether you’re coming to the NC Mountains for business, pleasure, romance, relaxation, sightseeing, bird watching, bike racing, nascar, or festivals, let the Banner Elk Bed and Breakfast family of inns service your needs.
