Snow Hits Highcountry

After a flying start to an early winter, back in late October, the ski season has suffered through some dismal days with slopes closing for a few days from lack of snow on the ground.

That all changed for this weekend.  MLK weekend is often the busiest ski weekend of the year and cold weather, along with almost a foot of natural snow, is setting records this weekend.

If you’re looking for skiing, without a drive to New York, look no further than Banner Elk, North Carolina.  We’re home to the highest ski slope on the east coast, Beach Mountain.  Not far behind is Sugar Mountain, also here in Banner Elk.

Come visit and stay forever, is a campaign being kicked off by the Banner Elk Chamber of Commerce and looks to bring new permanent residents to the area.  If you need a reason to come visit, come up for the snow.  Who knows, maybe you’ll enjoy it enough to stay
